Roofline Rider

Ride from the memory limit to the compute limit.

Use Up and Down, or the on-screen controls, to keep the kernel near the roof and dodge stalls.
health 100 · score 0 · memory bound ↑ ↓ or touch · dodge stalls · R retry

How to play

Your glowing kernel moves right as operational intensity increases. Press Up or Down, or hold the on-screen buttons, to steer performance toward the cyan Roofline. The sloped section is memory bound; the flat section is compute bound. Staying close to the roof earns points. Dodge orange stalls and reach the finish line. Touching the roof or a stall costs health.

The Systems Concept

The Roofline model shows two hardware limits. Increasing operational intensity can raise attainable performance while memory bandwidth sets the ceiling. Once the line flattens, peak compute sets the ceiling and more intensity alone no longer raises that limit. This is an arcade metaphor; real kernels do not physically collide with the line.
